Note to self

Let inspiration be your guide, this is supposed to be fun gosh darn!

That last project, a redesign of Power Grid, never took off. A move, a job change, a perspective shift, a small worldwide pandemic, a found love of rock climbing, and a general lack of interest for redesigns all took place in the last two years. What never left though, was my love of playing games. I’ve been lucky enough through this awkward time of social distancing to have a core game group to enjoy this hobby with online; we gather mostly on Table Top Simulator or Board Game Arena nearly every week to duke it out over whatever Euro-game is currently peaking our interest (Terracotta Army most recently worked my brain over quite well).

With this board game ‘hobby’ I mainly gravitate toward the play of heavier games. But I’m no one trick pony, and have a love of many styles, including Trick Takers, and most recently a couple games of that style have me back in Photoshop. Nokosu Dice and Skull King. One of which isn’t available for purchase and the other has an illustration style I’m not keen on. So in a whirlwind this last week and a half, I redesigned both utilizing some amazing illustrations I found!

Luke Weisman

I'm a board gamer by night and a graphic designer by day. I'm happiest when I have the opportunity to merge these two worlds together. I love the mental push of problem-solving during a board game and love it even more when I can experience it on a beautifully designed board.

With my background in design, I work with board game creators on their graphic design needs, and love to selfishly redesign games from scratch.
